Maps, Guides and Books
On sale are ordnance survey maps, walking and cycling guides and a wide range of books covering the history and geography of the area. Weardale and Teesdale offer some of the most magnificent scenery in the country, they truly are a treasure waiting to be found!
Top Tip: Stanhope finds itself running along the edge of ordnance survey map OL31, to cover the area fully you will require maps OL31 & 307.
Free – Walkabout Stanhope Guide
This guide gives a detailed two mile walking tour of Stanhope, the walk aims to point out some of the interesting features of Stanhope and to mention some of the interesting people who have lived here. The text for this booklet was provided by Mrs. June Crosby a local historian and resident of Stanhope.

The Durham Dales Centre is the ideal place to stop when visiting the Durham Dales.
The Durham Dales Centre offers: Onsite parking, fully accessible site, public toilets, 60 seater tearoom, boasting an extensive menu of homemade produce. A range of craft and gift shops, Visitor Information Point, Walled Dales Garden, complete with pond and seating, meet and greet service for your visiting coaches.
