The Durham Dales Centre in Stanhope welcomes visitors to Weardale in the heart of the North Pennines Area of Natural Beauty. We’re a unique attraction in a beautiful County Durham village. We provide the perfect base from which to explore wonderful Weardale whether you’re walking, cycling or motoring. We have the only large car park in the village which is free for a four hour stay and there are toilets and baby-changing facilities. There are plenty of places to picnic in our pleasant grounds and garden.

The site is easy for anyone in a wheelchair to use. Our Durham Dales Kitchen is a great, friendly place for hearty, home-made hot and cold meals, snacks, speciality teas and coffees and other drinks. We can comfortably accommodate large groups so if you’re planning a coach party for example, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Our Gift Shop is packed with souvenirs, greeting cards, locally produced foods, puncture kits, walking sticks and just about anything you might need for a day out and our friendly staff are happy to advise you about what’s on and where to visit in Weardale.

Do bring your doggy pals! We can’t have them in the buildings but there are water bowls and sheltered spots for them around picnic tables in our attractive courtyard and gardens.
